You may have already discovered portable hot tubs but the chances are that your first hot tub experience was in regular hot tub. It’s usually very memorable, either on holiday in the sun or snow, over friends or at the local health and fitness club. They provide the perfect way to unwind and relax after a hard days work and can be used in any weather.

After you have used a hot tub you are very tempted to buy one until you see the price which can be from $4000 to $15000. However, now with the new inflatable and portable hot tubs we can all discover the fun and relaxation of owning a hot tub at a fraction of the price and you can now purchase an inflatable portable hot tub for less than $600.

An important factor when you start researching the portable hot tub market is to decide how big you want the hot tub to be. Even though portable hot tubs are smaller than regular hot tubs they still come in all shapes and sizes and can fit anywhere from 2 to 6 people. Consider whether you are likely to entertain guests and have a hot tub party or if you are only going to use it for personal use. Are you likely to want to move the hot tub inside during winter months or will it remain in one place throughout the year? The great benefit of the inflatable portable hot tub is that it can be moved to fit in with the seasons, your lifestyle and your surroundings.

You don’t have to reconstruct your floor or have large holes dug out in the garden to have a portable hot tub installed. If you have the hot tub inside then it can sit on a standard supported floor. If the hot tub is outside it can sit on decking, patio or an even patch of grass.

A portable hot tub has the same benefits as a regular hot tub, it can have a thermostatic heater, a power jet massage and it can have the same water filtration system to ensure that the water is clean and sanitised.

With a portable hot tub you can have all the fun and benefits of owning a regular hot at a fraction of the price and it can be relocated with ease to suit your lifestyle needs.

The on off switch had a GFCI built into it and was part of the cord that was on my 110 hot tub but it went out and my husband cut off the box and repaired the cord without the interruptor since we had one on the outdoor outlet. It felt hot one day when I was about to unplug it when we were leaving for a trip and I had never noticed that before. We looked at buying a cord with the GFCI built in but it is 90 dollars plus shipping. Home Depot said we were fine but that the cord was getting hot because it was too long and to shorten it but it was safe as long as our box had the interruptor. It can save us money if we don't have to replace it. We have the hot tub for about 7 years and the cord came with it and is about 10 feet long and has only a few feet left over that isn't necessary but that didn't sound like we need to cut it off but what do we know?? We just need it safe and don't need to Jerry Rig it but if we can DYI , that's the way we would like to go. thanks

I am very worried about the size of your electric cord's wires. I would prefer you to use an eight gauge cord that can now handle the amps your tub needs. I always prefer seeing a hot tub hard wired and not plugged in.

I have a hot tub and the water is very murky.I have been looking all over the net and it says to turn my filters on how do i do that? I don't even want to go in because of the water. If you could tell me how to get rid of the murkiness or tell me how to turn the filters on the would be great.

I wonder what model and brand of tub you have to be able to better answer this. Most tubs will circulate automatically because of the electronic brains(circuit board). The older have a timer that you select each ten or fifteen minute interval you want. The filter cycles on most are 2 hours every twelve hours. Murky water is from the water not being balanced and not enough sanitizer being used. You really need to keep the bromine level between 3-5ppm. Chlorine 1.5-3ppm. Do realize there's only 7 major bacterias that can get you very sick if you don't take enough time to learn a little about proper chemistry that are common to hot tubs here in the USA. Do find your local hot tub store and take them a water sample for a computerized test to make sure everything is proper. IF you could edit your question with more details about the tub…

We got a free hot tub off Craigslist, in decent condition, needs a few repairs. We just got approved to move into a house. We either want to put the hot tub in the back yard of our house, there's a perfect spot for it, or give it to my girlfriends parents. The reason we are considering giving it to her parents is because we are worried the hot tub will dramatically increase our bills. Obviously we don't know if this is true or not.

Does anyone know for sure if putting a hottub in our backyard will increase any bills? The owners are paying water.
Is it better to run it all the time or only right before you use it?

It will increase your electricity on average $15 a month. Some with many pumps can be as high as $40 a month. Chemicals will add another 10 bucks a month. That is if you treat it properly…which most people do not…so that only increases the future repair bills…

The answer to your question about runnng it all the time is yes. It will consume less energy if your maintainging your temp then going up to it continually. Not to mention none of them will stay in working order if you let the water just sit. Water is naturally corrosive and will destroy things like your heating element faster if the water sits. Your sanitation will decrease dramatically also. IF your tub is 240v your heater will climb in temp approx. 7 degrees in an hour.

My repair guy recommended:
Ozonator + mineral purifier + weekly shocks with renew, then clarifier when needed (He said this would eliminate the need for
ANY bromine)

Already I found this information to be deficient in that my water was too acidic, so I added a buffer.

What are the pros and cons of different regimines?

I am thinking of adding an ozonator to my hot tub - I have several friends that swear by them. BUT, they are still adding SOME bromine. Not as much or as often, but the ozonator has not eliminated the need for a few chemicals.

Could be the mechanical side of the flo meter. If it`s not spinning the electrical side won`t acknowledge the unit is pumping. I`d have a tech check it for you!
