Why is the hot water coming out yellow..?
Posted by admin
i turned on the water in my tub to take a shower. when i was going to get in, i saw that the water was yellow!!! it looked like someone literally peed in there. no it wasn't me, i hadn't even stepped in. when i put the water cold, it came out clear, but the hotter i set the water the darker yellow it came out. i live in military housing apartments. it grosses me out. i don't even want to take a shower.. lol
why is this happening?
Probably rust in the heater tank or rust in the pipes
Why do I react so oddly to hot tubs?
Posted by admin
I'm a 15 year old girl, and whenever I use my dad's indoor hot tub, I have odd reactions. As soon as I get in the hot tub, I feel uncomfortable and anxious. I can never stay in for more than 15 or 20 minutes. The second I step out, I get very dizzy and all the noises around me are muffled(almost as if I'm wearing earmuffs). It also gets a little difficult to breathe. I usually just try to walk it off, and those symptoms go away within 5 minutes or so. About 10 or 15 minutes later, I have EXTREMELY thin diarrhea. Then I have stomach pains the rest of the night, and into the next day. This has happened more than once, but only after using the hot tub.
Also the hot tub's temperature is usually 98-104 degrees(F).
The hot tub is treated with chemicals.
Any ideas??
Thanks in advance for your help!
Ur body just may not be able to handle the temperatures of the hot tub
& chemicals in it .. stay away for a while & ask ur doctor
I dont know why my skin on my legs are burning?
Posted by admin
I go swimming at a fitness center. There pool is warm because it is a therapy pool. There hot tub like burns my legs when i step into it. And i cant breathe in there sauna. And after my legs just burn and the back of my legs are red. And now the skin on my legs looks cracked? I tried putting lotion on them and it burned. I dont know what to do!?
That happens to me when it gets really cold outside. Try putting cortizone cream on them.
Is there a fence law with hot tubs/spas in Maryland?
Posted by admin
Hello - I am thinking of purchasing a hot tub. Is there a law in Maryland which would require me to have a fence, like a pool does? Or if the cover locks would that be good enough?
My parents have had hot tubs in the past at 2 different houses, but both times they were on a deck without steps to the back yard. So the only way to get to it was through the house. My house does not have a fence and it would be on my back patio.
This could make up my mind if I want to get one or now!
I don't know but your hot tub dealer would.they have never mentioned it to me(I'm also shop for one in MD)
hot tubs and pregnancy?

i just found out im pregnant and a few days ago i went into a hot tub. i thought i might be pregnant so i sat on the top step with my torso out of the water on a cool night, i was acctually kinda cold and the hot tub was only set to 99 degrees. do you think this is okay? do you think i caused my baby any harm?
I think you are alright, but if you are worried ask your doctor and they will let you know. Generally, the further along you are, the more problems it will give you. Good luck and congrats.
What maintenance do I need to do for a deck in the house that I moved into and hasn't been treated in years?
Posted by admin
We moved into the house last year, and the deck is a huge built-in number, with built-in in benches, and a bar, and a hot-tub and pool. The deck is in good shape, but it needs some maintenance. What are the steps and processes I have to go through to properly clean, stain, and protect the deck?
Power wash it first to determine whether it is just dirty or whether it needs just to be sealed or if it needs to be stained. I really like the new Olympic Deck paint that is available at Lowes. It rated really well in Consumer's Reports, too. It gives rich depth of color and has UV/UVB protection against fade. I used it two years ago on my wooden fence which gets hit daily by the sprinklers and endures temperatures over 100. I chose black which usually fades quickly and I didn't even seal it. It still looks great!
whats the first step in fixing up an old hottub?

we moved into a new house this last summer and there is an old hot tub here, im not sure if it works. Whats the first step to see if it even works?
You have three systems in a tub, water circulation, heat, and containment. You should probably check the electrical first, simply turn it on for a second and see if the pump starts or if the indicator panel lights up (only do this for a second, as older heaters did not have overheat protection and you may burn up the elements). Then, fill it with water and check for leaks. After that, turn the system on and check for leaks again. If you have all of the leaks fixed, and the pump runs, set the thermostat and see if it heats up. This will take several hours from room temp water. I also recommend you have an electrician check the ground fault interrupter to make sure the electrical is protected prior to jumping in. enjoy!
At what temp is water too hot for my two year old to play in? Won't he let me know if it's too hot for him?

I like to relax in the hot tub at our apartment complex after swimming in the pool. The hot tub is inside and confined in a medium size room, and usually my little boy just wants to play on the benches and look out the windows while I relax and keep an eye on him, but sometimes he wants to sit on the first step and kick in the water, and sometimes he wants me to help him walk around the seat part of the tub, where the water comes about to his waist. Is it dangerous for him to play in water that warm?
it is not a good idea to let your 2 year old into the hot tub.
his legs will overheat and his little body can't get rid of that excess heat efficiently. Kids can't sweat yet at 2 years old. So his whole body will absorb that extra heat from his hot little legs. He can get bad intestinal, stomach or muscle cramps from the temperature exchange. His feet, his toes, OK.
But not immersed waist deep, OK? And no, he won't "tell you" it's too hot. He is playing, distracted, and enjoying being with you. Those will override the discomfort he feels.
Hot tub leak?

What steps do I take to find leak? How can I inexpensively fix?
Thanks,
Annie
Pull one or two of the side panels off. There is small screws in the side that you can see if you look closely. There may be wooden plugs covering them. These plugs can be pulled out with the tip of a knife. Try to locate the leak. The first place I would check is around the shaft in the pump. The rubber seal around it is famous for going bad and bleeding by. Next check all of your hose connections checking for splits, threads that have come loose, or rubber seals that may be failing inside the threaded connection. Next check around your jet ports. Sometimes, but not usually, these can be bleeding by. Check the bottom of you filter box for cracks. If the tub itself is cracked, you will have to drain it down and do a fiberglass repair (assuming it is a fiberglass tub and not stainless). The more panels you are able to remove from the side, the better look you will be able to get. The price is hard to estimate until you have pinpointed the problem. most leaks can be solved for under $50 if you do the work yourself. If you have the spa dealer come out, you are going to get robbed.
