Balance bikes, or running bikes as they are sometimes called, have no stabilisers or pedals, helping your child develop balance, co-ordination and confidence straightaway. As their confidence grows using the balance bike they can progress to a normal bike without the use of stabilisers.
FirstBike is manufactured in Germany and encourages a sense of balance quickly and intuitively. The FirstBike balance bike is suitable for ages 2-5 years.

| This children's bike is very light weight as it has a carbon fibre body verses some other makes which are wooden and, I believe, quite heavy for younger children. We bought this bike for my 2yr old boys birthday and he was just slightly too short in the leg to ride it then, although a back axil kit would have made it ridable for him straight away. Within one month he was on it and away. |

it is so manuouvarable and stable for kids they can ride them off road within weeks of starting and my boy even rides it down populated footpaths and in supermarket ailes ( not recommended! ..:-) )
the price of these bikes is a little higher than some alternatives but it is reflective of the firstbikes durability and quality of manufacture.
forget trainer wheels, pedals and heavy bikes. This bike will give your child a very close feeling of the freedom of riding that we adults enjoy."

Our research suggests:
The FirstBike range of balance bikes takes the pedal-free bike to another level of quality. They are lighter weight being made from carbon fibre and the home assembly is even faster, all you have to do is put on the pedals and twist the handle bars into place. Probably more suitable for the taller of the younger age, unless you use the lowering kit, these bikes look cool and are built to last. The restrictive steering makes it easier for your child to use and gives them less to concentrate on. They are very expensive which is the one big criticism.
